look there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95CP8_kO60o

but they are quite nice. and I also found some cc's which have not been controlled with the knobs. so it seems there are more capabilities then it shows first. maybe a real va inside.

I found them to be very usable. It's not about tweaking sounds so they are perfect, but to have sounds that are interesting enough to get jamming.

The eight macro controls change the sound quite a bit, and then you can also play in different octaves, which also gives a different sounds.

The selection of sounds is excellent. Leads, Chords, Bass, Pads and FX...everything quite musical and useful! All can be changed to your likink. Hreat job Novation!

As an all-rounder, they've nailed it. Great breadth and depth.

I'd like to be able to fill the thing with patches that have longer sustain/releases for ambient and drone purposes though, and for those atches to have rotaries controlling modulation to a larger extent. Dam, I wish I knew what the <ahem> circuit diagram was for the synth engine in this thing! Hopefully we'll all find out, once we've spent a good while flying it blind.

about patches --- is it possible for saving of patches after editing the sounds via the 8 macros?

i always spend time on a sound and then if i switch the patch and go back to prevouis patch i spent time on ... all my macro edits are erased

how can i edit and save patches for good?

save on patches is definetly a great idea!

Hi Jonatancano,

You should be able to save macro edits to the synth patches when saving the overall session. If you are switching between sessions and coming back to the session to find the synth in it's default setting (without saved macro changes), I would check to verify that the Circuit is running the latest firmware update. Here is link to download the firmware updater, if not done so already:

If issues are still present after attempting the firmware update, please contact us through the following link:

matthew k, I'm pretty sure what Jonatancano, and most of us, want is to be able to save a patch choice + macro settings independent of a session (as well as with the session, which of course works now). I want it for at least two reasons:

1) Often I have several sessions involved in a peice. If I tweak the sound of one of the parts in one session - I'd like to be able to copy it over to the other sessions (just the sound - because I don't want to mess with the patterns in those sessions.)

2) Sometimes, within a session, I want to use two different, tweaked patches with a single synth part. Like i'll have four patterns I want to use iwth one patch, and four with a different - all on Synth 1 (because, say, Synth 2 is playing the bass line throughout). In such a case, switching patterns, and patches gets you a "default" patch.

Hey guys,

Great news! It looks as though a new beta firmware is now available for the Circuit that address a few things, including some of the most popular user requests. If you would like to participate in the beta testing of the latest firmware, you can download it from the following link:

http://beta.novationmusic.com/releases/circuit/

This will implement a few fixes and request from users, including the ability to record from external MIDI devices. With the latest firmware version, you can also use the new Editor from Isotonik Studios to customize further (link included at the beta site). The Editor only addresses the 2 synth parts (not drums and fx), but is a great start into the ability of further customization as it provides more in depth control than just the macro knobs allow. In regards for more information on the initial patches, you will be able to view the parameters. For the need to have a custom patch in multiple sessions, you will be able to download/upload your own custom synth patches.

They have also posted a MIDI Parameters guide on the Circuit's main download page:

Any chance we can get information on how to dump/restore patch and session data via MIDI? The guide only lists controls that you can use via MIDI to change parameters.
