Impulse using midi cable

Hi

I have an Impuse 61 and use ableton live.

I am currently connecting the Impulse via a midi cable through a Steinberg UR22 audio interface as I have run out of usb ports on my laptop!

With this configeration I no longer have control over the transport or the clip launch functions and was wondering if there was a way around this?

Also, does automap require connection via a USB cable to work or can this be achieved through midi?

Any help on these issues would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Automap is USB only, yes.

Just buy a USB hub (Powered ideally) and your issues are sorted as you extend the number of USB ports on your system.

And yes, if you want clip launch/transport control you can map them yourself iin ableton f running through midi only.
