USB ac/dc main adapter

Hi again,

I'd like to use my Impulse stand alone (without PC), connected via MIDI to my Korg Krome.

I know I can use a USB adapter but I don't know if exists differnt type.

My HTC smartphone adapter is ok?

Does exists a cable (not usb cable + adapter)?

Thanks

Sorry for my bad english......

People usually use a powered USB hub, but yes you can use something like your phone USB Adapter, they all do the same thing, as long as it's standard USB connectors, which your HTC will be.

natias - what are you using as a sound module in this scenario? And what you planning to use the focusrite for without a pc running it?

To power it you just need standard usb power - you can buy/use standard wall adapters like you get with mobile phones/tablets etc. and plug a standard usb cable in to them.

Well, the impulse is a controller keyboard, it has no sounds built in - Are you aware of that?  It's use is to control other instruments that do have sound.  Sorry if you already knew that and i've misunderstood you - no offence intended.

However, That was why i was wondering how you were hoping to use it without a computer?

Ok, basically:-

1. Install the novation usb drivers (http://global.novationmusic.com/keys/impulse/support-downloads)

2. Connect your impulse

3. Open sonar and go to preferences, Midi, then Devices - and make sure that the impulse is enabled as an input to sonar.

4. To test - Create a new midi/software instrument track, record enable it, and you should be able to use the impulse.

If you want to use Automap and control other features of Sonar, there is a guide built in that will help you set up Sonar within Automap.  However, make sure you have the latest automap installed:-

http://beta.novationmusic.com/releases/automap/

Version 4.9b2 is the latest - For your reference - 4.8b1 upwards is required for Sonar X2 compatibility.

The adapters having MIDI cable are also available in the market. You must check it. Your HTC adapter will not be suitable for it. You must check it.
