Launckey ipad apps compatibility?

Hello,

I just found out about the Novation Launchkey and I'm really impressed. I'm literally one answer away from buying it! My question is this:I would like to know if it's compatible with the majority of the musical ipad apps (garage band, wizdom music apps, animoog, korg apps, magellan etc).

Thank you

Can someone from Novation (or who is using their keyboard with an iPad) please answer this question?

I'm assuming that if you turn InControl off (and thus put the controls into Basic Mapping Mode) and plug in an iPad, you can then assign the various controls to any iPad app that supports MIDI learn... and that the keyboard keys will in any case trigger appropriate midi events for any CoreMIDI app that is listening. Is this true, or will the keyboard only work with the 2 Novation apps? Can someone confirm this? It is not covered explicitly in the manual, and I haven't found an answer for it anywhere. Would love to plunk down my money if the answer is yes...

Hi Axolotl,

Yes you will be able to use the launchkey as a midi controler with 3rd party Ipads not just the two Novation Apps.

Hope this information helps if you need any more information please contact http://us.novationmusic.com/answerbase/contact

Thanks for the response!

And, just to be clear, that does include MIDI learn when supported by apps, when the keyboard controls are set to Basic Mapping Mode, correct?

Hey axolotl,

i can confirm that as long as the app supports midi learn it's a total blast to map things to your launchkey.

Sunrizer,Animoog,Imini,Magellan and Galileo are all very easy to map. That says something as i'm a total noob at these things.

hope that helps,have fun!

Be sure to look at http://audiob.us if you're serious about music production on ios - It works suprisingly well to link standalone instrument apps to DAW-like apps such as garageband etc.
