I have the same issue, called the UK customer service. They told me the product is discontinued, which mean no driver update which mean : BAD NEWS.

They told me to buy a new soundcard :/

The same issue. I hope Novation will make a beta driver for Mavericks like they did it for Mountain Lion - it couldn't be so hard. I don't want to buy a new soundcard only because of driver (Nio is not so old product. There is older soundcards working well with Mavericks).

Totally agree! Nio is very good and useful card, so i wouldn't want change it to another one.

Dear Novation team, please make new drivers! We have only one hope.

Also totally agree, and i got the same response from novation -

The Nio isn't supported on OSX Mavericks and as the product was discontinued several years ago, it's unlikely the driver will be updated to make this work.

If you wish to continue using Mavericks, you will need a new interface I'm afraid.

Kind regards,

...We seem to live in an age where you fork out money for technology, then updates happen around it, and then guess what, 3 years down the line, you are expected to fork out for something new again. It's not right.

Novation , do the right thing and release a fix please.

Seriously Novation. This is no excuse. On your forum the X station synth is having driver problems & yet you are saying it will be sorted yet the x station was released in 2004. I only bought the nio about 4yrs at the most. What you are implying, in fact you are saying that consumers should expect only buy from novation on the basis that its products will be useless in a couple of years. I also have the focusrite saffire usb mk1 which is having similar problems, focusrite are at least working on drivers that should come out & the saffire is basically a novation nio with better mic amps. I will not be buying novation products agin & I will warn anyone who is thinking of buying them to spend elsewhere on a company that looks after there customers. I know You would say that I should have checked before upgrading but  people will make mistakes. I checked most of what was connected & overlooked the soundcard. Seriously, anyone who has not bought a noavtion soundcard & is on this page, spend a bit more with a company that offers upgrades & provides after support, not just some box shifters who want to tell you 'go buy a new soundcard'. Well I will buy a new one but it wont be from novation

There is some kind of funny temporary fix how to work with your nio on Mavericks.

Launch iTunes and start playing some song (put it on repeat). If you not hearing anything (or sound is distorted), try to select/deselect nio card in Mac audio preferences till sound gets normal. Now if you want to work with Ableton or hear other sounds in browsers, aplications etc., just turn the iTunes volume off (but leave the song playing on repeat in background).

P.S. Maybe for Novation this is usefull to fix driver?

I'm very dissapointed in Novation. Nio was great product and i had no reasons to change it to any other soundcard before Mavericks install. Anyway, i'm hope they will change their mind & issue fix driver.

here is some kind of "fix" for nio owners and ableton live users: open ableton live, setup i/o as novation nio, then open Audio MIDI Setup application - "choose nio 2|4" and then change output format from 44100 Hz to 48000 Hz and then back to 44100 Hz - after these actions Nio could work with Ableton Live correctly, so, you could reassign sound output from your mac to nio input and get output from ableton live to your speakers.

Man this sucks. I have a new Mac arriving tomorrow and comes with Mavericks, so no (sensible) option to downgrade to ML. I really can't afford to buy a new soundcard as well. Novation really should sort this out, I love my nio, it's been good to me!!

Please give us a driver update, Novation.

Guys, if you open the standalone rack first then it seems to reset the interface and works as expected.

You may need to go in sound preferences and reselect the nio to initialise.

Bit of a pain to do everytime but without a update maybe the easiest fix we have.

So, I emailed Novation and they sent me a new beta driver - 1.6b.dmg...

Did anyone else get this and try it out?

Hey, I came across this firmware update (I assume it's an old one) but as soon as I installed it it fixed my problem. Time will only tell if it will stay fixed, but as of right now I am listening to music perfectly through my Nio 24.

Hi,

I tested the nio 1.6b2 release and it don't solve the problem for me..

I am on MacBook Pro from the early 2011 with the 10.9.4 OSX version

My nio is like new and it is not working just because a few new lines of code are missing!

Please give me some good news!

I will be waiting!

Thanks!

Guys, 1.6 worked for me, thanks a lot!! There was no hope for me after i've installed last java update (card stopped working even with my little hack with audio-midi settings), but new driver returned my card back to life. I'm very appreciate your work.
