Firmware update bricked Mininova :(

Not having much luck with this unit :(

Having upgraded to v1004 shortly after purchasing my Mininova last month, I was continuing to have some issues that affected its usability. So tonight I upgraded to beta version 1050 in the hope it might solve some issues. That firmware proved virtually unusable, with all sorts of weird and wonderful issues (particularly in conjunction with the editor) rearing their ugly heads.

So I attempted to re-install v1004 over 1050, which the installer happily allowed me to do, only to find that the Mininova would not respond after the the update. The updater showed the update had completed, but the LCD on the Mininova fron on "Updating". Waited an hour, the Mininova still showed no signs of progressing, so I rebooted it.

Now it won't start. The LCD is blank when powered on, and the device isn't recognised by the PC at all over USB.

Not sure what to do now, but thought I should warn others.

Mate, that doesn't sound good - you need to give novation a call!

If you hold down OK and both Page buttons (Left & right) while you power on, do you get 'exit to firmware' display on the screen?

You are a champion! Yes, holding down that key combination brought up a "EXIT TO FIRMWARE" message, and caused the Mininova USB to be recognised from the PC. From there I was able to upload 1004.syx using MIDI-OX to restore the firmware.

Hopefully it's stable following the downgrade.

Thanks again!
