MiniNova LIbrarian

I've had my MiniNova for about 3 daays and really enjoying this fine piece of hardware! I have run into an issue and I haven't found any solutions via Google or the Novation forums.

Whenever I try to start the MiniNova Librarian I receive a error dialog box indicating the the WinLib has stopped working (see image below). I have tried both the VST and Standalone versions of the MiniNova Librarian (VST within Studio One 3.1). I rebooted and turned off all of my other midi devices (Maschine and Akai Pro), but that didn't resolve the issue. I am running Windows 10 64 bit.

I would appreciate any input from someone who is familiar with this issue.  I submitted a tech support request 3 days ago, but haven't received a reply.

Have you tried any of the beta downloads?

Try 1.4b7 as ther's been some changes to librarian since the 1.4 download which on the main product page.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that, but it did not resolve the issue.  I expected to find others who have had the same issue.  Windows 10 is the only newish variable involved in an otherwise normal configuration.

You may be best to contact technical support using the menu on the left, one of Novation's engineers will help you - This forum isn't the most active place in terms of getting response from other users, i guess most that have a problem don't return back.

One question - nothing else is using the Mininova when you're starting the librarian, right?

Thanks...no, nothing else is using it.  I have contacted tech support, and they referred me to the same link.  I've since advised them it didn't work.  My biggest frustration is that its taking 2 days or more between responses. Very frustrating when you're trying to use a brand new purchase and it takes so long to get help.

I feel your pain mate, it is very annoying. :(

I just don't use windows for audio anymore, otherwise i'd try to help.  I've watched these forums for a while and picked up on issues windows useers have had with the Librarian, but i can't remember a problem with the same specifics as you're seeing.

Actually, i just searched around and found this:-

Have you tried running it as Win 7 compatibility mode?

Also i noted this:-

http://forum.novationmusic.com/forums/ultranova/need-help-drag-sound-pac...

That seems to suggest that the USB Audio driver could be related to the issue you're having?  If so - maybe worth trying the latest download of that too:-

However, i imagine that may already be part of the install that you have already?

As you say, this definetly looks like a 64 bit issue, previously fixed in Win 7 - but may have returned with Win 10?  I noticed looking around that other users who had similar problems also owned Maschine - possible factor?

Novation customer support reponded early this morning with a link to a updated USB driver, but that didn't help.  I found the Win 7 compatibility info you mentioned, but that didn't help either.

I responded back to Novation with some additional system info, so hopefully they will be able to solve it for me.  I really don't have a problem with dealing with these kinds of issues, but when I deal with a customer support department that has 3-4 day gaps in between each response, THAT drives me crazy. :)

Thank you for your reply!

I have windows 10 on a toshiba laptop about 5yrs old, and novation phone support guided me to install librarian, it seemed fairly easy.  Try calling them instead of email?  My 'tutorial' here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io4rQCh-Zkc
