Using the Nocturn as a basic midi controller

Okay, well, i don't really get it. I am using Cubase 6 and i bought the Nocturn because my Midi-Keyboard has no controls (i use an E-Piano) and i wanted to at least be able to do some modwheel thingies but i just don't get how this thing (Nocturn) works. How in the world can i just tell it to act as a NORMAL midi controller?

I am not interested in using Automap. Its all too complex for me.

the begining is what you want - you just need to set upo yours midi commands.

you will need automap anyhow, because nocturn is not a midi controller. Automap is the things that makes it work as a midi controller.
