Menu on the left side, librarian

Hi!

I have managed to remove that menu on the side to the left in the librarian application so i cannot see the banks and stuff?

Anyone knows how to get it back? Reinstall?

You don't mean the arrow next to 'My Mac' do you? Press that again?

Also, can you see the side menu at all? If it's just blank try moving your mouse on the heading that says 'library' and it will display 'show', click it?

Any chance of taking a screenshot and putting it up here?

If you're not aware: Cmd+Shift+4 allows you to draw a window around the area you wish to screengrab, then the image is saved on your desktop.

Hello kalliskling,

This is an incredibly annoying bug - particulary since, if you have longer folder names, and you wish to see the entire name, you intuitively try to make the window larger, which succeeds only in making the whole pane disappear. I hope Novation know about this an are fixing it.

To reset this, you have to quit the librarian and delete your preferences. Navigate to:

User > Library > Preferences > com.novationmusic.Novation-Librarian.plist

Move that last file to the trash - com.novationmusic.Novation-Librarian.plist

When you relaunch Librarian it will magically seem like nothing ever went wrong.

By some miracle of the internet, I can't make that text (above) change from white, but if you highlight it you will see the secret message

RI.

That did not work for me. I've tried multiple times. I'm running Mavericks.

Did you find the file ok? User/Library is hidden in Mavericks.

Also, did you quit the librarian software before deleting the .plist file?

You're probably not in the correct folder as it's hidden on modern OSX versions, there's another Library/Preferences folder which is global to the OS - to be sure you're in the 'user' version do the following:

From within finder, press Go menu (or Shift-Command-G), Then 'Go To Folder' menu item, And in the resulting window, type (or copy) "~/Library" (Without the quotation marks) in the field and click Go to open the Library folder.

I 've got the same problems than Kallinskling : no more left side column with library....deleting the .plist in User : always the same problem.

I have an Imac I5 in Yosemite 10.10.3 . I tried on an other external hard disk , copy of the internal , no problem at the opennig , but as soon I touch the column arrow , to change the dimension of the column , the left folder library disappear...never come back.  If I do that on my old Mac Book Pro 2018 in Yosemite 10.10.3 , there 's no problem , because I don't touch at the column arrow...this is for me the only way to program my Ultranova. It's perhaps , like every time we update a system , a problem of compatibilty of the internal programming aspect of the Novation Librarian ? I don't know about it , I'm not a programmer , but a simple musician , using Novation products. I hope this 1.4b3 version will be better next time , with an official 1.5 version , without this bug , if we can found where it comes from ?? Thanks for that to the Novation team.. But I still try to find the solution by my self every day..

The same problem. After deleting plist file there is no changes: a leftside navigation isn't exist. I'll try to reinstall the app

It take a normal view after restart. The steps are:

1. Quit librarian app, Set visability of hiden folders on your mac

2. Go to User > Library > Preferences  and delete this file:  com.novationmusic.Novation-Librarian.plist (mind that the library folder you are going is hiden)

3. Do not start librarian. Restart your computer

4.Launch lirarian.

The moral of that history: do not try to size the left side of the librarian browser :)

Thanks so much for this thread! Same thing happened to me tonight, using my iMac running Mavericks. All is well again. This thread should be a sticky!

I have got a very quick response from Novation and indeed i had to remove the plist-file.

to do this very easy you can download"Appcleaner" this will find and remove the complete librarian with all the related files.

after this you install the librarian again and all the changes you already made will be there.

But i gues there is still a bug in the program that must be fixed.

I can confirm this is something that happend to me today after making some new libraries and banks.  I followed all the instructions above on how to manually remove it and it simply just didnt work even after locating the hidden files.  (I am on Mavericks 10.9.5). I would reopen the librarian and the issue wouldn't go away.  Its sad this is still going on years leater.  Seems like it would be a simple fix.

I am chiming in her because the "app cleaner" did not work for me and I had to use "App Shredder" which completely removed all the app contents that were causing the issue.  It's free and I figured I would save anyone the hassle who reads to the end of this thread.

I just hope I don't hit that !#$ button again :)
