V-Station bugs

Hi,

I think there are serious issues with the new edition of V-Station synth.

Test environment:
Instrument: latest 32-bit Novation V-Station 2.1 (both VST 3.5.1 and VST2.4.)
Host: Cubase 7 32-bit on Win7.

BUGS:
- Voice Indicator does not work

- MIDI Indicator does not work

- CC based control is strange: when I tweak a knob and its corresponding V-Station parameter (OSC3 LFO1 PITCH AMOUNT) jumps between 64 and 127 or so. This happens with all other parameters, the visual feedback is wrong.
Example: a knob is assigned to CC59 on my keyboard. Tweak it, and the watch. Or CC 05 Portamento

FEATURE REQUEST:
- Please remove the 8-voice limitation, increase it to 24 or so.
- As TC Powercore is out of business, please add the functionality of the Powercore version of V-Station (more filters, etc.)

Please reply in case any of my observation is wrong or tell me how to workaround the issues.

thanks,
Baci

Yes can confirm these are in v-station, I'm using a very similer setup, Also want to point out that my sound presets are not stored on reboot...goes back to the first factory sound.

Experiencing similar abnom behavior in Logic 9 (64-bit) in OSX 10.8

what escapes me is how you can send out something like this as promotion?  This scares people away rather than the opposite, which I believe was the intention or the promotion freebies.

Hello all.

Bugs?  Oh dear & people wonder why I still use hardware synths.  I've only recently bought the special offer bundle myself but looks like I'll come across these bugs too!  Funny as I have an A-Station which the V-Station is the software version & apart from the limitation of the 8-Voices, doesn't exhibit any of the bugs mentioned above!  It also runs OS v2.1.

The other annoying thing with software is the direct result of piracy, this obsession with having to authorise your program otherwise it won't work & what happens if the company go bust?  Persoanlly, that's one reason why I won't spend huge sums of money on plug-ins unless I know for sure that I'll get lots of use out of them immediately in which case, if they do go bust, I will have had my monies worth or they seem to be a well established company or, there's a simple registration process which doesn't involve some authorisation server online or something.

This is the thing I've always found with software, somewhere along the line a bug or more will appear at somepoint & also years down the line, as software changes such as DAW and OS versions, compatibility issues start appearing whereas hardware just keeps working until it breaksdown which since the 80s where electronics became more reliable, is a fairly rare occurance as I still have synths that old working perfectly now.

With regard to the polyphony limit of 8-voices, while this can be annoying, over the years I got used to synths having less, some analogues only having 4-voices so in real recording terms, this involved layering whereby you'd record two or more tracks to achieve the chord spread required.  Therefore, because you loose very little with a modern DAW, I no longer see this as a major problem as you can load up multiple instances & if they're using lots of CPU, bounce the MIDI to an audio track & free up the resources.  Also, instead of using the same effects on each instance, send them all to a BUS output and then insert all the effects you want on that & that'll have the effect of making it sound like one big phat synth!

Many producers use that technique now with different synths so that they create a unique sounding patch, especially EDM proucders such as the Trance, Electro & Progressive House, Dubstep, etc, genres where the musical variation may be quite simplistic or repetative, because it adds depth & interest to the track & ceratin patches processed together like this can result in a huge anthem-like sound!

Anyway, that's how I get around the limitations of polyphony now & I use that exact trick with most of my vintage synths as 6 to 8 notes is a common limitation for them but a modern DAW lets me overcome the restrictions of the past.

Cheers all!

Hardware synths have bugs too. :P Just look at Waldorf's recent synths, and you know how buggy they can be... again, V-Station 1.7 works nearly perfect, i had no issue so far.

Hello

Have just bought the latest version and I'm using it in Garageband in OSX 10.7.

This software is useless to me and a complete waste of money because I can't modify the presets using the Pots and LEDs - the preset keeps defaulting to user 499, very frustrating.

I can confirm all these, the versions from version 2.0 are pretty broken, and need a lot of bug fixes. Version 1.7 works perfectly though. That's why i'm still on version 1.7...

About the voice limitation: I don't think Novation will and should fix that. After all, the sounds should be compatible with the K-Station, and they wouldn't be with more voices.
